Lesson Plan format

Class 8 Music

Specific objectives:

After the lesson students will be able to (describe, tell, explain, do, create, write, draw, compare etc) (Bloom Taxonomy verbs)

·      Students will be able to read notation ( Rhythm )

·      Solfege Exercise

·      Identify Pitch ( Do-Re-Mi)

 

Teaching learning activities:

Introduction:

12 mins

I will start my class with simple warm-ups (Solfege). Then I will practice Ear-training.

13 mins

Explain notation (Half Note, Quarter Note, Eighth Note)

15 mins

Group division (how, what will each of the group do? how does the teacher rotate/manage groups)

There will be 2 groups. We will practice composing simple rhythm with any tools (or just hands clapping) available in the classroom.

5 mins

Closing and Hand-out homework.

 

Main part/ teaching steps: what activities, what does teacher do? What do students do? (Concept time and practice time)

1.    We will stand and warm-up.

2.    Then sing Solfege. (Ascending and Descending exercise)

3.    Ear Training. ( I will play the piano and ask the students to Identify Pitch. Do, Re, Mi)

4.    Explain Rhythm. Practice reading and playing. I will use the white board. Use some props ( half, quarter, eighth note symbols ).

5.    Divide Groups.

6.    Present composition.

7.    Appreciate every student’s hard work.

8.    Give them homework.

9.    End the class.

 

Conclusions:

I will ask each group to present their composition. I will appreciate each group for their active participation.

 

Teaching materials:

Flash card. Keyboard. Handouts.

Evaluation (how to assess?)

 I will ask them to sing solfege. Make them choose their answers in the answer sheets.

Homework ( Creative )

Compose more rhythm drills.
